MAJOR EVENT THIS WEEK
There are a few changes taking place this week in our game line-up and in our player roster.
St Pete TBBC Alliance
On Monday, September 14, our Alliance with the Tampa Bay Bridge Center (TBBC) goes into effect. We are expanding our game schedule with the addition of TBBC's games at 3 PM daily (except Saturday). Most of the TBBC games are Limited games with the exception of the Open Game on Thursday at 3 PM. The detailed schedule is at the end of this e-mail. All games will be listed with our virtual club number, VACB127001. The name will be St Pete TBBC Alliance. There will be no change in the registration process. If you are a member of TBBC and have been playing in St Pete's games as a guest, you will now be able to register as a member, since you are a member of the Alliance. The same goes for members of St Pete who have been playing in TBBC's games as a guest.
We expect this Alliance to benefit both clubs. You can help make this Alliance a success by playing early and playing often.
After the 3 PM game Monday afternoon, starting at about 5 PM, there will be a
social hour, hosted on Zoom by TBBC. The link is
Meeting ID: 813 1852 0264 and Passcode: 262793.
Please join us and take this opportunity to get to know each other, see the faces that go with the BBO screen names, catch up with friends, and ask any questions you may have about hands, the Alliance, etc. I also look forward to seeing our St Pete members who I have missed. Please pour a glass of your favorite beverage and join us Monday for the social hour.
Switching gears, the directors and I have all received complaints about players not having convention cards posted on BBO. I think this is primarily a result of a change recently made by ACBL and BBO. The SAYC is no longer being automatically loaded for you if you and your partner do not have a convention card on file. If you do not have a convention card on file, please take the opportunity to make and post one. You and your partner are required to have a convention card posted. There are instructions on our website, www.stpetebridge.org, that should help guide you through the process.
There will be another Zoom post-mortem after our 12:45 PM Thursday afternoon 0-199 supervised play game. This seems to be a popular feature of that game. The Zoom link for the post-mortem is
Meeting ID: 784 548 2262. I understand that no password is required.
We have struggled with attracting enough players to hold an Open game on Thursday. With the Alliance, we have been able to add an Open game Thursday afternoon. If you have been playing elsewhere Thursday afternoons, please consider returning and playing in the 3 PM Open game.
Also, on Thursday, after the 3 PM Open game, TBBC offers another
social hour via Zoom. The link is

We welcome our friends from Tampa this week and look forward to getting to know you. We anticipate increased table counts and increased masterpoint awards. We will also be welcoming Mark Smith and Mike Vaughn to our fold of BBO game directors.
I want to thank Larry Sullivan and Judy Greengrass from Tampa for making the formation of the Alliance go so smoothly. I also want to thank our game directors for their help in this endeavor.
Our club is great because of the contributions that each and every one of you makes! Thank you.
